Once all hazards have been identified, analyzed, and mitigated, the final step is to close the assessment. Closing an assessment signifies that all required risk evaluation activities have been completed and that the assessment is ready for review or archival.
Verifying Completion
When you click Complete assessment, Serenity automatically performs a validation check to confirm that all required information has been entered.
If any required data is missing, a completion validation dialog appears listing the incomplete items for each hazard. Typical missing elements may include:
Job step assignment (for step-based assessments)
Inherent Severity or Likelihood (and Exposure, if required)
Control effectiveness rating
Residual risk values
This check ensures that no hazard is left partially assessed, maintaining consistency and data quality across your organization’s risk management program.
Correcting Incomplete Items
If the validation identifies missing information:
Review the listed hazards in the dialog.
Click Cancel to return to the assessment.
Navigate to each hazard and complete the missing fields (e.g., job step, control assessment, risk ratings).
Once all fields are completed, click Complete assessment again to re-run the validation check.
Finalizing the Assessment
If all required fields are complete, Serenity will proceed to the closure options.
From here, you can:
Sign the assessment: Capture signatures from the assessor, reviewer, or other designated roles.
Request review: Route the completed assessment for supervisory or safety team review before final closure.
Close immediately: Mark the assessment as Closed – Complete if no additional review is required.
Once closed, the assessment record becomes read-only and is available for reporting, dashboards, and audit reference.
By enforcing completeness checks and structured closure workflows, Serenity ensures that every assessment is thorough, verified, and auditable—supporting a consistent, proactive approach to risk management.
