These fields support internal reporting, trend analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements like OSHA. --- ## What Are Injury Attributes? Injury attributes are structured data points recorded on an injury report to describe **how** the injury occurred and **what type of injury** was sustained. They are commonly used in compliance documentation and can help inform injury prevention strategies. ![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfyua1cAaLPqF4qrahqDRZODeB4y4ULFPXOJBQE7rW0NlW1upB7EIJtLfa63pvpl9sVILGhN4qpH27UYPL9cHx2zuXFVi2-DHW9r-IwHj6O8Hu_MosNW7lYUCQeLWjLWvAV1wnO?key=0AljBKwI0wYz67ygMJMFFpE5) The two most commonly used attributes are: - **Nature of Injury** – Describes what the injury is (e.g., fracture, sprain, burn) - **Mechanism of Injury** – Describes how the injury occurred (e.g., fall, repetitive movement, electrical contact) πŸ’‘ **OSHA requires** that these fields be included in injury documentation, but allows each organization to define its own specific terminology. --- ## Out-of-Box Values Serenity includes a pre-configured list of injury types and mechanisms, such as: ### Nature of injury: - Fracture - Concussion - Abrasion - Hearing loss - Sprain / Strain - Skin disorder ### Mechanism of injury: - Fall - Radiation - Repetitive Movement - Mechanical - Chemical - Violence --- ## Part of Body Serenity also includes a structured **Part of Body** and **Additional Parts of Body** fields, allowing users to select the **specific body part** affected by the injury. - Many body parts are labeled with **left/right** designation for accuracy - Includes common selections like: - Arm, Leg, Eye, Head, Back, Hand, Foot, Shoulder, Knee - And more specific entries like "Lower Back" or "Right Elbow" πŸ’‘ The level of detail in this list can be customized to suit organizational needs. --- ## Configuring Injury Attributes Currently, injury attributes and body parts are configured by the Serenity support team. Admins can: - Add or remove options for Nature, Mechanism, and Body Part - Deactivate unused or irrelevant options - Customize terminology to reflect internal language or regulatory needs πŸ“ž **To make changes**, contact your Serenity Support or Customer Success representative. --- ## 🚧 Coming Soon: Self-Service Configuration A configuration page will soon be available to **EHS Admins**, allowing them to: - Enable/disable individual values - Add new Nature and Mechanism entries - Adjust part of body options without needing support assistance --- ## βœ… Best Practices - Align your attribute lists with **OSHA** and **workers’ compensation** requirements in your region - Review the injury categories with your **EHS and HR teams** to ensure consistency - Use the **Part of Body** picker to improve injury tracking precision and support ergonomic reporting - Simplify lists where possible to reduce reporting errors and training burden
