The Access Management module in Serenity allows administrators to control who can access the system, what they can see, and what actions they can take. It’s a critical part of configuring your organization and maintaining security and compliance.
All access settings can be found under My Organization → Access Management in the top navigation bar.
User Directory
The Directory tab is your central user management view. From here, you can:
View a list of all active users
Toggle to view a list of inactive users (e.g. terminated or past users)
Import users to bulk-upload user records
Add new users to manually invite individuals and assign their role and location
✅ Tip: Assign users to the correct Establishment during setup to ensure they receive site-relevant tasks and alerts.
Groups
The Groups tab allows you to define logical teams or access pools. Users can be assigned to one or more groups for:
Task assignments (e.g., unassigned group tasks)
Email Notifications
Role and permission assignment
Each group includes a name and optional description (e.g., “Serenity Admins” for platform administrators).
You can:
Create a new group using New Group
Search for existing groups using the search bar
💡 Use groups to manage shared responsibilities without assigning tasks to individuals directly.
Access Requests
The Access Requests tab shows pending access requests from users who are requesting system access.
Admins can:
Review pending decisions
Approve or deny requests
Manage user access centrally
☁️ Microsoft Entra ID Integration
If your organization uses Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), you can enable user provisioning directly from this tab.
Why use Entra ID?
Automatically sync the employee directory from your identity provider
Ensure users are always assigned to the correct establishment
Avoid manual entry and reduce user management overhead
To enable
Go to the Microsoft Entra ID tab
Click Enable user provisioning
Work with your IT team to connect your directory
🛠 This integration is available to subscribed customers. Contact Serenity support to assist with setup of this integration.
🔍 Note: While Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) is highly effective for keeping your employee directory in sync, it may not provide the full employee profile needed for EHS workflows — such as job roles, hire date, position start date, date of birth, etc.
For a more complete integration, Serenity also supports connections to HRIS platforms like Workday. These integrations can enrich user records and improve OSHA recordkeeping and injury/illness reporting.
🛠 Interested in a Workday or other HRIS integration? Contact your sales representative to scope a solution and obtain a Statement of Work (SOW).
✅ Best Practices for Access Management
Use groups to organize users logically (by role, function, or site) to simplify task distribution and permission maintenance
Regularly audit inactive users and deactivate unused accounts
Leverage Microsoft Entra ID to automate and scale user provisioning
