Setting Up Your Organization

Prev Next

Before your team can fully utilize Serenity, it’s important to configure your organization’s structure. This includes managing access, setting up your sites and departments, and defining assets and operational areas.

All of these settings can be accessed from the My Organization menu in the top navigation bar.

Access Management

Access Management allows you to control who has visibility into what, based on their role, group, and assigned responsibilities.

From this section, administrators can:

  • Add or remove users

  • Define group memberships for task routing

  • Assign permissions to users and groups

  • Setup automated user and group provisioning with Azure Entra ID

Managing Your Organization Hierarchy

Organizing your company’s structure in Serenity ensures that data, workflows, and reporting are aligned to how your team operates in the real world. The following components make up that hierarchy:

Organizational Units (Org Units)

Org Units represent high-level segments of your business, such as Divisions or Business Lines. Use them to group similar establishments or operational functions.

Establishments

An Establishment is a physical location or site (e.g., Central Office, Coastal Headquarters). These are used to:

  • Assign site-specific tasks, incidents, inspections

  • Filter data and reporting

  • Set site ownership and assignment rules

  • Comply with OSHA Recordkeeping requirements

Zones (Departments, Shops, Work Areas)

Zones are subdivisions within an establishment, such as:

  • Departments (e.g., Production, Warehousing, Shipping/Receiving)

  • Work Areas (e.g., Welding Bay, Receiving Dock)

Use Zones to help guide teams towards the specific areas within a site where tasks are to be performed.

Processes

You can also define Processes that occur within each zone or establishment — for example:

  • Receiving

  • Shipping

  • Picking/Packing

  • Finished goods assembly

Assets & Vehicles

Assets

Track fixed or movable assets that are part of your operations:

  • Eyewash stations

  • Fire extinguishers

  • Forklifts

  • Production machinery

Vehicle Fleet

Define and manage company vehicles used in your operations. This is useful for:

  • Vehicle inspections

  • Tracking issue and corrective/preventive action history related to fleet assets

💡 Both Assets and Vehicles are optional modules and can be enabled based on your organization’s needs.
