Closing an Investigation

Prev Next

The final stage in the investigation lifecycle is closure. This step signifies that all relevant findings have been addressed, appropriate actions have been assigned or completed, and the investigation record is ready for archiving.

When to Close?

Each organization may approach closure differently:

  • Option 1: Close the investigation once all findings and actions are assigned. This is ideal for organizations that manage action follow-up separately.

  • 🔁 Option 2: Keep the investigation open until all corrective and preventive actions have been completed and verified.

Serenity supports either workflow, allowing flexibility based on your internal policies.

How to Close an Investigation

  1. Click Close investigation

  2. Review Pending Tasks
If there are incomplete tasks from earlier stages (such as Planning or Discovery), a confirmation dialog will list them.
📝 You can still proceed if justified.

  1. Provide Closing Details
A form will prompt you to summarize:

    • 🕵️ Key findings

    • 🛠️ Recommendations/actions taken

    • 🗒️ Any additional close notes

  1. Sign the Investigation
Type or draw your signature and check the certification box to affirm that your entry is complete and accurate.
This step ensures proper recordkeeping and regulatory compliance.
