Assigning Corrective and Preventive Actions from a Finding

Prev Next

After a finding is reported in the Serenity platform, the next step is determining how best to resolve it. In many cases, this involves assigning specific corrective or preventive actions that address the root of the issue and prevent recurrence. Serenity makes it easy to manage these actions directly from the finding record.

Start from the Finding

Once a finding has been created, it becomes visible to the user or group responsible for resolving it. The finding includes a short description, details about the hazard, impacted entity, and priority.

💡 Typically, Findings are assigned to the site safety teams to monitor progress and validate remediation. Actions are then assigned to site facility and/or maintenance teams to complete individual remediation tasks.

Add Actions to the Finding

From the finding record:

  1. Click the Actions tab.

  2. Click New to create a new action that will help resolve the finding.

You’ll be taken to the Create New Action screen where you can define:

  • Short description of the action.

  • Action type (e.g., Corrective or Preventive).

  • Assignment group or assigned user.

  • Due date, priority, and entity.

  • Optional attachments and work notes.

These actions operate as independent tasks, meaning they can be owned and completed by different teams or users, each with its own timeline and urgency.

View and Manage Actions

Once created, actions will appear in the Actions tab of the finding record. Here you can:

  • View all associated actions

  • Open individual actions to update, complete, or change status

  • Monitor priority and due dates to ensure timely closure

💡Some findings may only require a single corrective action, while others may involve a series of steps across multiple departments.

✅ Best Practices

For large or high-risk findings, break down resolution into multiple smaller actions. This promotes accountability and makes it easier to track progress.

By assigning clear, actionable tasks directly from the finding record, Serenity helps teams respond faster and more effectively to identified risks. This structured approach keeps everything traceable and transparent—from hazard detection to issue resolution.
